Literature Text

You were sick and tired
none of us we knew,
God had pulled the reins in
Calling home for you.

My mother and yourself
You fought so hard and long
Now that your struggles over
My mother will carry on.

I know she feels defeated
this cancer its hard to beat.
Your memory lies with her always
In every stride as she aims to defeat.
This might be the first of a few poems dedicated to an amazing woman, neighbor and most importantly and undeniably a member of our family. Ann died of lung cancer after being admitted to the hospital with a chest infection, five days later she was given a few days left to live, she died a couple of hours later.

We met Ann when we moved house in 2004 she became a mentor a guide and part of the family. When my mam was diagnosed with breast cancer in october 2011, Ann started to help and visited regularly and when Ann was diagnosed with stomach and lung cancer they helped each other, visiting masses gardens and the hope center as they went through chemotherapy. Mam was given the all clear last april, and Ann got the same positive news last august.

She was an amazing lady, the suddeness of her death, i still struggle to comprehend. © leanscribbles 2012
